Long ago, on an island in the Pacific, explorers were greeted eerily by the faces of stone giants, their backs facing the sea as if shunning the outside world (or weeping for a secret only they remember). As they investigated the desolate scrap of land for humans, the explorers found haunting evidence of human activity. The bones of the dead littered the land, their secrets guarded by the peculiar, stoic rock faces that watched in silence. What happened here? the explorers wondered. After investigating the island, a horrific theory developed. One of ecocide as the people tore down the forests, destroying the fragile ecosystem of this tiny corner of the world. As resources ran scarce, the people grew hungry and desperate, setting up a cannibalistic melee that led to their demise.
